The 8th Serbian-Croatian-Slovenian Symposium on Zeolites was held in Belgrade, Serbia from 3rd to 5th October, 2019, in co-organization of Serbian Zeolite Association, Croatian Zeolite Association, Slovenian Zeolite Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and Faculty of Physical Chemistry, University of Belgrade. The Symposium was held under the auspices of Federation of European Zeolite Associations (FEZA) and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Republic of Serbia.
67 delegates from 10 countries participated in the symposium. 4 plenary lectures, 6 invited lectures and 29 oral communications were presented. 41 papers are published in Symposium’s Proceedings, there are 121 authors listed in the author index. Communication topics fall into the following domains:
- synthesis and modifications of zeolites and zeolite like materials – control of their properties, design for particular purposes;
- the application of zeolites and zeolite like materials in the field of catalysis;
- natural zeolites – their modifications for novel applications, such as in the bioremediation of the environment;
- specific scientific techniques (IR operando, NMR, zero length column chromatography) in the characterization of porous materials;
- porous materials as biocompatible drug delivery systems;
- application of zeolites in the agriculture;
- zeolites as additives for constructing materials;
- zeolites as materials for sorption of heat storage.
The symposium allowed the researchers to exchange views and discuss the topics mentioned. We believe that this symposium has contributed to existing collaborations and opened up opportunities for establishing new ones in the region and in Europe.
